New Volunteer Orientations

KCCA is fortunate to be receiving a huge influx of new interested volunteers. We are now requiring new volunteers to attend a one-time New Volunteer Orientation, preferably before their first time volunteering, but exceptions can be made, as long as the volunteer attends one and is cleared for further involvement in KCCA within their first 3 weeks of volunteering. We will be holding these orientations hopefully 3 to 4 times a month. Our next one is on Friday March 18th, from 6-8pm, at 60 Walton St. in downtown Atlanta, on the second floor. This building is just a five minute walk from the Five Points Marta Station. Check out the Facebook Event Page Other upcoming orientations will be listed on our calendar soon.

Fundraiser!

The Collective is currently planning our first fundraiser to help raise money for our upcoming trip to the Allied Media Conference in Detroit, at which we will participate in the Kids Track. Funds will also be used to cover transportation for caretakers going to various events to provide care throughout the city, as well as funding for future projects. This event will be a party on April 1st at 368 Ponce De Leon Ave in Atlanta, Georgia. Cover charge will be $5 or a toy donation. We will be selling alcohol to adults, but there will of course be childcare and this will be a very child-friendly event. We plan to have bubbles, beach balls, and kid-friendly music! Check back for updates, and if you want to be involved in helping plan this and future events, please send us an e-mail or give us a call! RSVP to the Fundraiser Here! (Not required)

We recently doubled our number of partners from 2 to 4! We are now providing care twice a week for Nicholas House, an organization that houses and helps homeless families get back on their feet. Most of the people staying at Nicholas House are children, and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the efforts of this wonderful organization. As of now, we provide care Tuesdays and Thursdays from7:30 to 8:30. Additionally, we are partnering up with MEIA-G (Movement to End Israeli Apartheid Georgia) to provide childcare for their upcoming English as Second Language (ESL) classes they will be providing for refugee women. Both of these are great ways to start getting involved with the collective if you are interested! Make sure to contact us if you want to volunteer.
